St Johnsbury Ultimate Pick-Ups

Hello all

So far... Ultimate had been far and a few for most and some have not gotten a game in yet! July is not looken hopefull, between work, vacations and other intrests, we cant seem to get together! But thats ok! We still have a chance to play here and there!

Currently I can not get anthing together becuase of Work! Also im going to NYC for a weekend, and that takes out some time!

I know Victoria is planning on getting something together, or she was talking about it! We will find out from her soon!

If you REALLY need to play some disk here are some places you can play
Burke Vermont on the town field in Easy Burke off of rout 114 they play wednesdays and sundays i believe!

Frainconia NH on the Soccer fields. The day... i forgot but Kate knows!

I know Burlington has a pick up team
and maybe montpieler! I will check into it!

The 29th the Girls YCC team is going to have a practice on the ST Jay academy baseball out field (really nice field) If you want to come and practice you can it is from 1pm to 5pm, one catch you need to be a UPA member for legal issues! (insurance)

If you cant play but want to come watch please do! These girls are great players, some of the best!

How about that day, I am getting off that morning (working thursday night) and I think that would be a great day for a game and other stuff!

Here is my idea....
If people can get that day free, we can plan a day full of eventfull activities!

Sugestion
A game of ultimate
A big match of double disk
Swimming in a lake or river ( pools are ok too, but there will be no mud)
Movies movied and maybe some pizza or maybe some other food! (potluckdindin?)

so what you guys think, if it is a whole day event, everyone can come and leave when need be!
all we need to do is find a good field, meeting place and times for everything!
I can be incharge of this as well

Brendan is there any oxbow people that would be interested?

Here is some other facts that people might be interested in, i get off at 0700am, so i can spend the morning picking people up and bringing them to the places we will be. (sleep.... who needs sleep.... I got RED BULL)

New Field

So here we go, i found a field to use, but the thing is that we do not have full permission to use it at the moment, but i know this field is not being used for anything.

so my plan is we are going to use it till get kicked off!

From what i hear, the person who owns it is going to be willing to let us use it, but he has not contacted me back yet.

the field is the one right next to save a lot grocery store at the green mountain mall.
there is alot of parking, and the filed is ok

kinda lumpy, but we can still play disk on it.
so who's up for some disk time???

Directions to Oxbow

Here are the directions:

Take Rte 91 south from St J.
Turn off at Newbury/Piermont /Bradford Exit (#16).
Turn left onto Rte 25 C (east), and drive for about 1/4 mile to the first (and only) traffic light.
At the traffic light take a left, onto Rte 5 (north).
Follow Rte 5 through "downtown" Bradford, then up a hill. Soon you will see Oxbow High School on your left.

Field Update

Hey everyone,
Here's the scoop. I hit the pavement today and looks like we are making some progress as to what fields we can play on. I am expecting two phone calls by later 2night or 2morrow afternoon. I have a meeting set up with the middle school 2morrow, and will be informed as to whether we can play there or not and at what times. Right now, I'm thinking that our best bet is at the field across from EHV, but will be informed on a deffinite answer by 2morrow. Bryan, we can pick days as to when we want the games and at what time. I will keep everyone updated so keep checking the site.

The IDEA

So hi everyone

The field search is still on as we speak,
Between work and Other things that take me away from the disk i am still searching and looking and digging for a field for us to play on

Thank you everyone for your ideas and help, it makes my life easier!

Here again is my idea for the STJ Pickups this summer
I would like to keep it as local as possable, and i know local in VT means if it is with in 50 miles, it is "local"

but being from acouple cities, local to me means, i can walk there in less than 15 min.

I did the back yard thing and it was a nogo, the field was way too small and had lots of new gardens planted in the middle of it.

I still havent contacted the people across from EHV, but it will be done.
Burke is possable because it is kinda far
also i think i might might might might beable to con my way on to one of the fields here at my power station, but that is in Ryegate. 10 min drive from St jay,

sooooo again i am wokring on it
this comming week i am working monday 12 hour day shift, then tuesday im in NH for the day and then tuesday wed and thursday i have 8 hour days, sooo later afternoon stuff can be done. Keep looken here and your e-mail for more info

Field Situation

So here is whats up

Today I went to STJA and inquired about all fields at the school, What i was told was that all fields are either being rebuilt or are going to be inuse for something so we can not use any fields. I am going to e-mail the head greens guy and ask again about stow, but from what i got, that is going to be in use for other things.

I went to the baptist church, she kindly told me to leave after i told her that we did not have insurance because it was a comunity pick up type deal. So ok

then i went to the Rec department.... that was interesting, We talked about all the baseball fields, thats a nogo, he sugested the realy small parks around town.... my feeling i got was he was really more interested in his lax pick up, but he siad he thought ultimate was a good idea. but quote "its too bad ultimate is becomming this huge sport..... i thought it was more fun as a back yard sport" That is when i turned and walked out, after biting my toung and sayting thanks for your help.

EHV told me to try the field across the street, so that is what im going to do tomorrow.
if that does not work we can play with the burke people and maybe use thier field... but again i am trying my best to keep this as local at possable!

Summer Pick-Ups 2006

Hi all

School is out for STJA, and I have been talking to people about pick-up games here in St Jay, I would love to keep playing disk all summer and it would be cool to have set days so people could could plan ahead!

this is what i have heard

tuesdays and thursdays are good days for a couple people
times could be afternoon to early eavning

Any other ideas
